Kissinger Report
Henry Kissinger wrote the National Security Study Memorandum 200 in 1973, advocating population control in less developed countries to ensure access to resources.
The report recommended policies like legalizing abortion, contraception promotion, and forced birth control to reduce populations.
It advised withholding disaster and food aid from countries that did not comply.
China's One Child Policy
China's one child policy starting in 1979 was developed with support from the UN Population Fund.
China used surveillance and tracking to identify illegal pregnancies for forced abortions.
There were over 336 million abortions and 400 million births prevented under the policy.
The UNFPA provided $100+ million and technical expertise to China, while denying direct involvement in abuses.
Forced Sterilization in Peru
From 1995-1997, over 250,000 women in Peru were forcibly sterilized under a program to meet population control targets.
